The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
