The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
