The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
