The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
