The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
