The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
