The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
