The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
