The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
