The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
