The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
