The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
