The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
