The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
