The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
