The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
