The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
