The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
