The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
