The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
