The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
