The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
