The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
