The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
