The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heaven of the constellations! 1 By the Promised Day! 2 And the witness and the witnessed, 3 may the people be condemned those who tortured (the believers) in ditches 4 Of the fire (kept burning) with fuel, 5 When they sat by it, 6 And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 7 And they persecuted them for naught save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy 8 Who, to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness over everything. 9 Indeed those who troubled the Muslim men and Muslim women, and then did not repent – for them is the punishment of hell, and for them is the punishment of fire. 10 As for those who believed and acted righteously, theirs shall be Gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great triumph. 11 Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. 12 Surely He it is Who originates and reproduces, 13 And He is the Forgiving, and the Loving. 14 Master of the Honourable Throne. 15 The Doer of whatever He wants. 16 Has the story of the armies reached you, 17 Of Firon and Samood? 18 In fact, the disbelievers had always rejected (Our revelations). 19 And Allah encompasses them from behind! (i.e. all their deeds are within His Knowledge, and He will requite them for their deeds). 20 Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
