The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens with constellations, 1 by the promised day, 2 by the witness and the witnessed, 3 the people of the pit were destroyed 4 The people of the fuelled blazing fire. 5 When they sat by it 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 And they did not take vengeance on them for aught except that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praised, 8 and the One to whom belongs the heavens and the earth. God is the Witness of all things. 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 As for those who believed and acted righteously, theirs shall be Gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great triumph. 11 Surely the might of your Lord is great. 12 Surely it is He who originates, and brings again, 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, 14 Master of the Honourable Throne. 15 Performer of what He desires. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 (The armies of) Firaun and the tribe of Thamud. 18 Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth. 19 While Allah encompasses them from behind. 20 Nay! This is a Glorious Quran, 21 inscribed on a well-guarded Tablet. 22
