Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the sky full of great constellations, 1 And by the Day promised, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Cursed were the people of the ditch (the story of the Boy and the King). 4 the fire abounding in fuel, 5 When they sat by it 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 And they did not take vengeance on them for aught except that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praised, 8 to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything. 9 Surely those who tormented the believing men and the believing women and then did not repent, theirs shall be the chastisement of Hell, and theirs shall be the chastisement of burning. 10 Surely for those who believe and do the right are gardens with rivers running by. That is the greatest success. 11 Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe. 12 it is He who begins and repeats [His creation], 13 And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness, 14 Lord of the Throne, the All-glorious, 15 Doer (without let) of all that He intends. 16 Has there reached you the story of the soldiers - 17 Of the Fir'awn and the Thamud? 18 Yet those who deny the truth persist in denial. 19 although Allah surrounds them. 20 Nay, but it is a glorious Qur'an. 21 In the Preserved Tablet. 22
