The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven which contains the constellations. 1 And by the Day promised, 2 by the witness and the witnessed, 3 slain were the Men of the Pit, 4 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers. 7 They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise, 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and women without repenting will suffer the torment of hell and that of the burning fire. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 Indeed the seizure of your Lord is very severe. 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 And He only is the Oft Forgiving, the Beloved of His bondmen. 14 Lord of the Throne of Glory, 15 Who does as He pleases. 16 Hast thou received the story of the hosts, 17 Of Firon and Samood? 18 Yet the unbelievers still belie, 19 and God is behind them, encompassing. 20 This is indeed the glorious Qur'an 21 written on a preserved Tablet. 22
