The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heaven, holding mansions of the stars, 1 And by the Day promised, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Perish the fellows of the ditch, 4 Of the fire (kept burning) with fuel, 5 When they sat by it 6 And they themselves are witnesses to what they were doing to the Muslims! 7 They took revenge on them only because they believed in the All-mighty, the Al-laudable, 8 Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness of all things. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning. 10 (But) for those who believe and do good works, for them there are Gardens underneath which rivers flow that is the Great Victory! 11 Verily, (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) the Grip (Punishment) of your Lord is severe. 12 Indeed it is He Who initiates and redoes. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Lord of the Throne of Glory, 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Has the story of the armies reached you, 17 Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? 18 But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial, 19 although Allah surrounds them. 20 Nay! it is a glorious Quran, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
