The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the sky with its constellations, 1 by the Promised Day, 2 And by the Day witnessing and the Day witnessed, 3 slain were the Men of the Pit, 4 Of fire fuel-fed, 5 They sat by it 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 Indeed, the seizing of your Lord is severe. 12 Surely it is He who originates, and brings again, 13 And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness, 14 The Lord of the glorious Throne, 15 The Doer of whatever He wants. 16 Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts 17 of Pharaoh, and of [the tribe of] Thamud? 18 Yet the infidels persist in denial. 19 But Allah doth encompass them from behind! 20 Aye! it is a Recitation glorious, 21 (Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)! 22
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
