The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 By the Promised Day! 2 and by the witness and what is witnessed: 3 THEY DESTROY [but] themselves, they who would ready a pit 4 the fire abounding in fuel, 5 They sat by it 6 And to that which they did to the believers were witnesses. 7 Against these they had no grudge except that they believed in Allah, the Most Mighty, the Most Praiseworthy, 8 [and] to whom the dominion of the heavens and the earth belongs. But God is witness unto everything! 9 Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning. 10 Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. 11 The vengeance of God is terribly severe. 12 Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection). 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Owner of the Throne, the Exalted. 15 a sovereign doer of whatever He wills. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 of Pharaoh and of Thamood? 18 Yet the unbelievers still belie, 19 And Allah encompasses them on every side. 20 This is indeed the glorious Qur'an 21 written on a preserved Tablet. 22
