The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven which contains the constellations. 1 by the Promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 The companions of the pit were killed 4 the makers of the fuel-stoked fire! 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 witnessing what they were doing. 7 and their revenge on them was only because they believed in Allah, the Almighty, the Praised, 8 To Him only belongs the kingship of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness over all things. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and women without repenting will suffer the torment of hell and that of the burning fire. 10 Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. 11 Surely thy Lord's assault is terrible. 12 it is He who begins and repeats [His creation], 13 He is the forgiving and the loving, 14 Owner of the throne, the Glorious 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Has the story reached you of the hosts, 17 Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? 18 Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth. 19 Allah encompasses them all from behind. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 (Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)! 22
