The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky with its constellations, 1 by the promised day, 2 By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;- 3 Cursed were the companions of the trench 4 with fire abounding in fuel, 5 When they were sitting near it 6 witnessing what they were doing. 7 And what did they dislike from the Muslims, except that the Muslims accepted faith in Allah the Most Honourable, the Most Praiseworthy? 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and women without repenting will suffer the torment of hell and that of the burning fire. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! 12 Surely it is He who originates, and brings again, 13 and He is the Ever Forgiving, the Most Loving 14 Lord of the Throne of Glory, 15 Performer of what He desires. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 Of Firon and Samood? 18 Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth. 19 However, God encompassed their activities. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 In a guarded tablet. 22
