The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 And the promised day, 2 and by the witness and what is witnessed: 3 slain were the Men of the Pit, 4 the fire abounding in fuel, 5 When they sat by it, 6 And to that which they did to the believers were witnesses. 7 And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, 8 and the One to whom belongs the heavens and the earth. God is the Witness of all things. 9 Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe. 12 He it is Who creates for the first time and He it is Who will create again, 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 – the Lord of the Glorious Throne, 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Has there reached you the story of the soldiers - 17 the armies of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial 19 And Allah encompasses them on every side. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 that exists in a well-guarded tablet. 22
