The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the heaven which contains the constellations. 1 and [then bethink thyself of] the promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 may the people be condemned those who tortured (the believers) in ditches 4 Full of fire fed by faggots, 5 When they sat by it, 6 And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them). 7 And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!- 8 Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things. 9 Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire. 10 Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for them await gardens underneath which rivers flow; that is the great triumph. 11 Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord. 12 Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection). 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, 14 Owner of the throne, the Glorious 15 a sovereign doer of whatever He wills. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 Of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and Thamud? 18 Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth. 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Aye! it is a Recitation glorious, 21 in a guarded tablet. 22
