The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
