The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace

By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
