The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
