The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
