The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
