The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and so am I: 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
