The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 it is no merriment. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
