The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
