The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
