The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
