The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And no trifle. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: The Comet (Al-Taareq). Sent down in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
