The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
