The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and so am I: 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
