The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
