The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
